E.S. Cropconsult Ltd. began providing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) services to growers of vegetable and berry crops in the Fraser Valley in 1988. At present, we provide such services to 10000+ acres of 12 agricultural commodities.

We service Delta, Surrey, Cloverdale, Pitt Meadows, Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, Langley, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, and Pemberton.

Heather Meberg

President and Director of Grower Services

Heather Meberg started working at ES Cropconsult in 1998. Her specialty area includes IPM for organic and conventional vegetable production. She has conducted field research examining chemical and non-chemical pest control. In 2006, Heather assumed the role of President and Director of Grower Services, overseeing all aspects of the monitoring programs offered by ES Cropconsult. Heather has worked with the Delta Farmland and Wildlife Trust, and is a recognized Planning Advisor with the BC Environmental Farm Plan.

Marjolaine Dessureault, P.Ag

Director of Research and Head of Pemberton IPM Branch

Marjo has worked with ES Cropconsult since 2008. She has a B.Sc. in Agronomy from Laval University and is a professional Agrologist with BCIA. She specializes in IPM for seed potatoes, organic vegetables and cranberries. Marjo oversees all research projects conducted at ES, from trial design, execution and administration of project funding. She has completed the CFIA Seed Potato Inspector Course and is a recognized Environmental Farm Plan, Nutrient Management Plan and Integrated Pest Management Plan Advisor with the BC Environmental Farm Plan program. Marjo is located in Pemberton, where she founded our Pemberton Valley Branch.

Heidi Lundstrum (van Dokkumburg)

Cranberry IPM Coordinator

Heidi has a diploma in Agriculture Technology from UFV with a focus on livestock production & a certificate in Horticulture Crop Production and Protection. She has worked with ES Cropconsult since 2010, and when not working, she is likely taking care of her herd of goats. She is a co-author on the Integrated Pest Management For Cranberries In Western Canada 2nd Edition. 

 
 

Allyson Mittelstaedt

Soft Fruits IPM Supervisor and Assistant Research Coordinator

Allyson has a Horticulture Crop Production and Protection Certificate from the University of the Fraser Valley. She started working at ES Cropconsult in 2015. Her focus for IPM is in blueberries, raspberries/blackberries and strawberries. Allyson has lead multiple research projects focused on major pests of concern for the soft fruits sector and is the author of Integrated Pest Management Newsletters for both Blueberry and Raspberry growers.

 
 

Jen McFarlane (Scholefield)

Soft Fruits IPM Coordinator and Research Coordinator

Jen (she/her) has worked with ES Cropconsult since 2016, before which she was gaining her Masters in Pest Management from Simon Fraser University. Jen focuses on IPM of berry crops including blueberry fields registered for export, as well as regular blueberries, strawberries and raspberries. As the Research Coordinator, Jen extends her research knowledge into other areas within ES, including field vegetables and nutrient management, overseeing experimental design and execution along with statistical analysis and report editing. She has undertaken several research projects over the years including field trials and outreach projects. Jen loves working with growers to help solve their pest challenges and is passionate about sharing knowledge and learning across the industry.

 
 

Megan Gray, P.Ag

Potato IPM Supervisor and Hiring Coordinator

Megan has a B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences from the University of British Columbia, specializing in Ecology and Conservation and began working at ES Cropconsult in 2018. She specializes in monitoring conventionally grown commercial potatoes, as well as other root veggies such as beets and carrots. She has completed several research projects with these crops and their associated pests, and is currently working with the BC Field Vegetable sector of the Living Laboratories Initiative.

 
 

Dee Gorn, P.Ag

Soft Fruits IPM Supervisor

Dee has a B.Sc. in Physical Geography from Simon Fraser University, with undergrad internship experience in small-scale agriculture. Her focus at ES since starting in 2020 is IPM for blueberries, strawberries, and caneberries; she also monitors fields for China and Korea export programs.

 
 

Elizabeth Jeffs

Cranberry IPM Supervisor

Elizabeth (she/her) has a B.Sc in Applied Biology from the University of British Columbia, specializing in Applied Plant and Soil Science. She started working at E.S in 2018. She grew up on a farm and has an interest in agricultural research, particularly in entomology and plant pathology. Her focus at E.S is IPM for cranberries.

 

Amy Blakeman

Potato IPM Supervisor

Amy (she/her) has a B.Sc in Biology with a concentration in marine biology from the University of Victoria. She started working at ES in 2020. Her focus is IPM in seed and conventional potatoes.

 

Shannon Venturini

Potato IPM Supervisor

Shannon (she/her) started at ES as in 2019. She has a B.Sc in Environmental Science from Simon Fraser University with a specialization in Water Science. Her focus at ES is in IPM and research for potatoes and other vegetables.
